Safety campaigners celebrate Beatles-style in Alexandra Road Kingston

John, Paul, George and Ringo used a zebra crossing in 1969 for the cover of their album.

So it seemed fitting parents, teachers and children who had campaigned for a right of way across Alexandra Road in Kingston should celebrate victory by recreating the Beatles’ famous Abbey Road artwork.

Kingston Council installed the crossing outside Alexandra Infants’ School after a campaign by families to make the busy road outside the school safer.
